Important changes to Historic Registration rules
From 1 July 2017 a new ‘Club Registration’ scheme will take the place of the current Conditional Registration Scheme for ‘Historic, Left Hand Drive and Street Rods Vehicles’. There is no extra fee to be paid for Historic Registration when joining the Southern Earlys FX-FJ Holden Car Club.
The new simplified arrangements include removing:
- the need for annual statutory declarations
- the need for 3 yearly inspections
- the current restrictions that apply specifically to Historic vehicles
- the cut-off date of 31 December 1978 for eligibility to the scheme (now open to any vehicle manufactured 30 years ago – on a rolling basis)
It was agreed that as of 19.7.17 the following rules apply:
The Southern Earlys’ FX-FJ Holden Club of SA Inc. now provide access to the Club Conditional Registration Scheme, for original, modified vehicles that meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and modified vehicles that do not meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act but have been issued with a Certificate of Exemption by the Dept of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.
That owners of the vehicles admitted to the Club Scheme no longer be required to produce an annual Statutory Declaration or submit their vehicle to a 3 yearly inspection. However, the current requirement for an initial inspection of the vehicle prior to its acceptance for Club Registration be maintained.
The existing Club Rule, regarding ownership of an FX-FJ model Holden being a prerequisite to access for a non FX-FJ Holden vehicle to the Club’s Conditional Registration Scheme, remain in force.
