From 1 July 2017 a new ‘Club Registration’ scheme will take the place of the current Conditional Registration Scheme for ‘Historic, Left Hand Drive and Street Rods Vehicles’.
The new simplified arrangements include removing:
- the need for annual statutory declarations
- the need for 3 yearly inspections
- the current restrictions that apply specifically to Historic vehicles
- the cut-off date of 31 December 1978 for eligibility to the scheme (now open to any vehicle manufactured 30 years ago – on a rolling basis)
Clubs that currently issue Conditional Historic Registrations may review their current practices to decide whether they wish to restrict themselves to that category or broaden the type of vehicles which it admits to the Club’s Scheme. This could include modified vehicles that conform to the Road Traffic Act and/or those that do not and require a Certificate of Exemption.
There appears to be nothing in the Southern Early’s constitution that would need to be changed to allow the Club to extend the Club’s Conditional Registration Scheme to include modified vehicles.
As the Southern Early’s Club has, within its membership, owners of modified FX and FJ vehicles and has previously conveyed to the Minister, its support of the proposed Scheme, it now seems appropriate that the Club’s Scheme be extended to take advantage of the new Scheme to include modified vehicles.
Motion 1 – Moved TH –adopted unanimously 19.7.17
The Southern Earlys’ FX-FJ Holden Club of SA Inc. now provide access to the Club Conditional Registration Scheme, for original, modified vehicles that meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and modified vehicles that do not meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act but have been issued with a Certificate of Exemption by the Dept of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.
Motion 2 – Moved TH –adopted (one absention) 19.7.17
That owners of the vehicles admitted to the Club Scheme no longer be required to produce an annual Statutory Declaration or submit their vehicle to a 3 yearly inspection. However, the current requirement for an initial inspection of the vehicle prior to its acceptance for Club Registration be maintained.
Motion 3 – Moved TH –adopted unanimously 19.7.17
The existing Club Rule, regarding ownership of an FX-FJ model Holden being a prerequisite to access for a non FX-FJ Holden vehicle to the Club’s Conditional Registration Scheme, remain in force.
